    The Calico Goose has been the area's largest craft store for over 20 years. Started in 1984 by Gloria Eacret in the upstairs portion of the turn of the century building located at 701 Main Street, Historic Van Buren, Arkansas, Paul and I purchased the business in 1996 and moved it to its present location at 721 Main Street in 2001. Our craft business started when I purchased Paul a ShopSmith Mark V for our first anniversary and we attended our first craft show as vendors on our second anniversary and the rest as they say is history. We have been hooked ever since. We started with the wood crafts and then when Paul's Grandmother passed away and left him her ceramic kiln, we started dabbling in ceramics. We now have 2 kilns and over 3000 molds. Then about 5 years ago, Paul started making cookies and fudge. Ladies at church would ask him to make cookies for them to take to different events. They would buy the supplies and he would make the cookies. I start making the fudge, then of course Paul took that over too!! haha!!! Eventually Paul became Mr. Goose to compliment the name of our shop, The Calico Goose.

    Our building is located in Historic Downtown Van Buren, Arkansas. Our building was originally built in 1884 and was the American Railways Company. It has been many things over the years and boy do I wish that these walls could talk. It is rather ironic that we should come to own this building. In 1942, there was a dentist office located on the second floor and my mother had a tooth pulled there. In 1976, the Van Buren Photography Studio was located on the second floor and I had my senior portraits made there. Now Paul and I live on the second floor over our shop. My how things evolve over the years.
